Ortshosan, SOUTH OSSETIA, 2011 – Roman Eloev (88), decorated several times as a Soviet hero, lives in an old draughty shed on the border with Georgia. Since the last war with Georgia, the South Ossetian countryside has become an isolated area devoid of any economy. The inhabitants are self-sufficient and have been left to fend for themselves.
